OOH OOH AAH AAH
What does it all mean?
Getting into the world of animation can be a little scary
at first. We’ve created this cheat sheet for you so you
can sound like a real pro when ordering your animation.
An animation is not the same as a video, in fact it’s much more time consuming. Animation is created by (mainly) 2D and 3D digital illustrations that are put into motion. Step by step, frame by frame, second by second.
When you order your animation, you receive our online question form (briefing form). Here you can tell us all about your company, your products, your message and your goals for the animation.
This is an overview of all the scenes in your animation. A storyboard is first hand-drawn before it is illustrated digitally.
We make sure we create characters that fit your story and organisation. This means your characters are specially designed for you and your target audience: Colours, clothing and any other cultural markers that are important.
Depending on the animation you choose, we create something monkeyfast. In just a few weeks, your animation can be ready. But sometimes you need it even faster. Throw in some extra bananas and we’ll make it bananafast!.
This is the voice that will embody your script. We work with native-speaking professional voice actors from around the world, ensuring you always have the best choice. During the recording session you’ll have the opportunity to join through Skype to share your feedback.
The script is the heart of your story. It does not contain images nor motion descriptions. It’s your story in words, in your tone of voice. This script is used to create the storyboard and the voice over text.
A scene is a collection of frames. Usually, the artwork in a scene stays the same but it’s illustrated in different positions. By doing so, these elements can be animated. And just like that, you have an animated scene!
It’s super important your animation fits your brand. We’ll integrate your logo, branding, typography and colours into your animation. If you have a special icon or character style, we would love to integrate those as well.
After we’ve received your briefing, we schedule an interview with you by phone. In this process we dive into your briefing form and create a clear base for the script we all understand and agree on.
Basically, this is about telling your story in a way that really connects with people, makes them listen and moves them. The combination of text and visuals is what brings your story to life.
We first illustrate your animation the old fashioned way, using pen and paper. When we like what we see and it makes us happy, we start illustrating it digitally in a program called Illustrator.
